To be used for
Capryl alcohol can be used as a possible alternate for 2-ethylhexanol or isooctyl alcohol in the reparation of diesters and monomeric and polymeric plasticizers. It also finds uses as a frother in mineral flotation. The refined 2-Octanol is mainly used as a raw material to produce Caproic acid - an intermediate of flavor. In some countries the Caproic acid is used to produce Ethyl Caproate - a kind of flavor. The refined 2-Octanol can be also used to produce plasticizer such as Dioctanol Phthalate (DCP), Dioctanol Adipate (DCA).
